Before you apply to Eden Christian Hostel make sure you have a good look around this website and our Facebook and Instagram pages. If you have the opportunity, please come and visit the Hostel.
We organise tours of the Hostel during the Auckland Uni & AUT Open day each year. You will be shown around the Hostel by a current student and also have the opportunity to ask questions about living at ECH. We prefer to schedule tours in order to give intending residents and their family/whanau the best possible experience of the Hostel. However if this is not practical then other visits can be arranged, at a time suitable for everyone, just get in touch.
Application process:
Applications for accommodation open in June, for the following year. Hostel accommodation is for first year, full-time tertiary students, for the 38 week academic year.
You can apply by filling in the on line application form which can be accessed by clicking the link on this page. Please pay the $80 application fee (non-refundable) into the Hostel Bank Account, and email or mail in two character references (refer to application form).
The applications will be acknowledged, and a questionnaire will be emailed to the applicant to be completed and returned. The applications will then be worked through.
Things to bring with you:
- Duvet or blankets & pillow.
- Sheets and pillow cases.
- Towels, and a bath mat.
- Toiletries and a container (named).
- Washing powder, washing basket and pegs
- $1 coins for dryer.
- Drying/airing rack.
- Desk lamp and bedside lamp.
- Electric multi-plug and extension cords.
- Rubbish bin.
- Coat hangers.
- Oil Heater, no fan heaters permissible.
- Heat pads for hair straighteners are required.
- Damp rid moisture absorbers.
- Headphones.
- U tac and Command hooks.
- Personal First aid kit.
- Torch.
